California Trainings in April
Public Works is pleased to offer two full-day workshops in California: April 16th in Oakland and April 18th in Los Angeles. The goal of these trainings will be to equip attendees with the insights and strategies necessary to make an effective case for the essential role of government, public systems and public services in the future of the Golden State. Our field work has been heating up as the new year rolls on. At the end of February Patrick gave a keynote address to the annual CalFresh conference in Sacramento and he and Anika had a number of good meetings with partner organizations and key racial justice leaders while in the state. A couple of weeks later we were back in California conducting two workshops at the California Budget Project conference and a half day training for CBP partners. In mid March, Anika Fassia traveled to Washington, D.C to participate in a convening of key thought leaders from more than 30 organizations to discuss framing, narrative and messaging for social justice. The meeting was sponsored by the Opportunity Agenda and the Center for Media Justice. Elaine led a workshop for public health officials in Western North Carolina. Attendees are part of a new grant initiative to establish healthier communities. On March 17th Dianne and Patrick led a session in Denver for alumni of the Bighorn Leadership program. And as this newsletter goes to “press” we’re back off to the Northwest for meetings and trainings in Seattle and Portland.
