Our Shared Investment

BlankWashington State Budget and Policy Center explains how taxes benefit all of Washington State in this Tax Day infographic that focuses not on programs but rather on the impact of state spending—thriving communities, education & opportunity, healthy people & environment, and economic security.

In particular, the fine print does a good job of broadening the audience’s understanding of taxes, describing them as the resources that support things “we all care about like safe neighborhoods, quality school, a cleaner environment, and public health.” This description gives the reader a much better sense of they value of their shared investment than a pie chart that only conveys what percent of the state taxes are spent on K-12 public education.
