States Enter the App Business

The pest exterminatorThe next time you go hunting in Arkansas (assuming you have the necessary permits) you won’t have to stop by the local store and register your game because, surprisingly enough, there’s an app for that. This is just one example in a series of state apps highlighted in this article from Pew Charitable Trusts’ Stateline publication. Several of the apps are designed to facilitate direct interactions with residents, like reporting pests or getting emergency alerts, but, as Pew reports, states are also using apps to improve internal operations. For example, one of Indiana’s most successful internal apps tracks and coordinates the work of technicians who provide IT support for users in the capitol complex and about 600 other locations.
