airplane travel Five count ‘em five! That’s the number of this year’s Advocates College in Oregon. Patrick was back in Portland this month to kick off the fifth year we have teamed up with our great colleagues at Neighborhood Partnerships for another set of training sessions for a great group of advocates and public leaders.

Patrick and Anika travelled to Ohio for a series of meetings with key partners in the Buckeye State, including the Kirwan Institute and the One Ohio Now coalition.

Elaine teamed up with long-time Public Works champion and partner, former city manager Mike Huggins, to lead a workshop at the 100th anniversary conference of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).

Marcia and Elaine travelled to Manhattan to lead two workshops at the statewide conference of the City State Employees’ Association. This enormous division of AFSCME is embracing the idea that public employees have to become more engaged in their communities and learn to tell new, more effective stories about the role of public services.
